Goal (But)

The primary goals of this survey were to identify the need for information, to characterize expectations with regard to the physician-patient relationship and treatment management, to describe patient preferences and reasons for compliance and non-compliance in a cross-cultural context. The intention was to use the data thus collected as a means of generating working hypotheses and as a basis for discussing possible solutions.

Type of patient (Type de patiente)

Participation in the survey, via the internet or using the hard copy version, was open to all patients with a diagnosis of primary or relapsed ovarian cancer. A minimum age of 18 was defined as a criterion for inclusion.

Primary efficacy endpoint (Critère principal d’évaluation)

A 27-item questionnaire was already developed for ovarian cancer patients. These questions were first tested for comprehensibility and reproducibility in a mono-centre pilot study (Charité, University hospital Berlin, Germany) involving 20 patients with ovarian cancer. This study was conducted on the basis of semi-structured interviews and feedback questionnaires under the supervision of a physician who is trained in interview technique. The interviewer should be not involved in the patients' medical care.
The results will be published in each country focusing on different aspects of patient's preferences and needs. Furthermore a publication reporting the cultural features of the global study is planned and will be coordinated by the supportive group of the NOGGO (North Eastern Society of Gynaecologic Oncology)
